You know I had an awesome time at the beach, but that did not top our excursions.
Can you guess what this is?
Yep you guess it....a sting ray.
We visited Dolphin Cove in Negril, and part of our adventure was to get familiar with the sting rays.
[Don't worry guys their barbs were removed]
Guys let me tell you...I was a little nervous with them swimming around me in the water.
There were 8 of them to be exact. When they swam by my leg they felt very rubbery and slick.
We each took turns touching and holding them.
You cannot stand stationary with the rays. They do not stay in one place just because you are holding them. They want to proceed with swimming, and will continue to do so. When holding them (esp. a large one) you have to glide with them or else its force from flapping will push you back.
The rays are very interesting, especially looking at them up close. Their eyes resemble frog eyes and they have fairly sharp cartilage that protrudes from down their backs. When you lift them up completely out of the water you will get a good view of their mouth. You don't see any teeth, but they do have a powerful jaw that enables them to crush their prey. Here's a fun fact... Sting rays are known as the chicken nugget of the sea because they do not have any bones.
Now on to the dolphins.....
as you can see I was overly excited and nervous at the same time.
I had to swim out to the middle of the ocean where the dolphins popped up from under me and greeted me.
I overall had a good time playing tricks with them. They are so friendly.
We had a ball at Chukka....big ups!
Here we took the ATV's and rode through what used to be an orange plantation.
After that we had an awesome time zip lining through the trees....
We did some other cool things, but I was not able to capture it all.
Anywho, I hope you enjoyed reading my part 2.
Take Care!
